Last month I made a pledge to donate 10% of my monthly sales to an organization that is working towards helping vulnerable or under represented people; or otherwise trying to change our world for the better of all. It's one small commitment I can make every month.
The organization that will receive 10% of sales throughout the month of August is:
Providing relief support for Diné & Hopi Families affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
"We are an all volunteer grassroots indigenous led group operating on the Navajo and Hopi Reservations. We are prioritizing the elderly (especially those raising their grandchildren), single parents, and struggling families by helping them buy groceries, water, and health supplies, and by protecting them (and their vulnerable communities) from exposure by engaging volunteers to make the purchases and deliver them to a safe transfer location for the families."
Far too often our Indigenous brothers & sisters are overlooked, disregarded, and their identities are erased. All of us living in the United States are living on blood-stained stolen land, very little to nothing has been done to even acknowledge the years of oppression and abuse or begin to aid in their healing and reclaiming their culture. Indigenous woman continue to go missing and murdered. Many Indigenous Nations, like the Navajo Nation still have areas with no running water and no electricity. During the pandemic their communities have been hit hard by this virus, limiting people's access to food, supplies, and PPE.
For every sale I receive through the month of August I will donate 10% to the Navajo & Hopi Families Covid-19 Relief fund. Sales are totaled at the end of each month, rounding up to the nearest $5 to make the donation within the first 1-3 days of the following month.
For the month of July I chose the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, America’s premier legal organization fighting for racial justice. Thanks to your purchases in July I was able to contribute $175 to the cause today.
