Elemental Essentials: A monthly jewelry subscription + My Pledge to a Monthly Charitable Donation

Introducing Elemental Essentials: A monthly Jewelry Subscription Box

from Christina Holland Designs  Release date: Wednesday, July 1st 11am (MST)

I'm so excited to tell you about the Elemental Essentials box. This has been an idea brewing for at least a year, if not longer. I've put good use of this time spent staying home & social distancing to brainstorm & make things happen. If you follow me on social media you've already had a few teasers of this- your feedback has been amazing & supportive, thank you! It's with all that awesome energy we share that I pulled inspiration from to put this together. That's why I like to think of it as part subscription box, part customer appreciation. Only 12 boxes will be made each month, in each one you'll receive a new & unique piece of jewelry made by yours truly. All 12 pieces made for the month will have a theme & a style, but each piece will be it's own- different metals, different stones, different textures... When you subscribe you'll fill out a short survey to tell me all your favorites & preferences. I want to know your favorite colors, the gemstones that you just can't get enough of, plus your metal preferences or sensitivities. Your box will get custom attention to your likes. You'll also receive another gift in your box from one of my many favorite artists & specialty shops. I love to collaborate & to share the goods & talents of the many people & places that I shop with, collect, & get inspired by. On top of that, subscribers will receive monthly discount perks, a special gift during the month of your birthday & your first box shipped for free. To read over the official details, check out the "Subscribe" tab from the menu above. There will be options to purchase just one month's box, which will include one of the 12 pieces of jewelry & the extra artist/specialty gift- minus the subscriber extras. Subscription registration is open from the 1st to the 15th of the month; only 12 boxes are made each month between subscriptions & one-time purchases at this time, with a possibility of expansion in the future.

Also beginning on July 1st: My Pledge to a Monthly Charitable Donation.

In the wake of the killing of George Floyd in my home state of Minnesota, I did what many people did- took a backseat to my regular postings & promoting to help amplify Black voices. Realizing some of my own short comings, I started to compile a list on my blog of organizations to give to and resources to help us educate ourselves (you can see that list here). This list is first, a reference for myself that I will continue to add to and update, but one I hope you can also go to for resources. White supremacy is eating away at our country, we (white people) are being called upon to stand up & speak out against the vile history that built this country & that continues to suppress Black, Indigenous, and people of color to this day. Every action you take to dismantle white supremacy matters. We must not look away, we must act.

As part of my commitment to working towards change, I pledge to donate 10% of my monthly jewelry profits to organizations working towards change. Every month I will chose a different organization that is working towards racial equity, women's rights, justice, support of our LGBTQ+ communities & more, with the goal to help the most vulnerable & under represented in our communities. I will continue this pledge for the remainder of 2020, but it is my hope to keep up the monthly donations year after year.

Together, we can reshape our world into a beautifully diverse place.

For the month of July I have selected the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund.

The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. is America’s premier legal organization fighting for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans. LDF also defends the gains and protections won over the past 75 years of civil rights struggle and works to improve the quality and diversity of judicial and executive appointments.

As a small business jeweler, I put my heart & soul into everything I do, the energy I share & my connections with all of you. It might seem strange for me to be talking about social issues in a jewelry newsletter, but these are important topics I believe we should all care about. Donations to many of these organizations from my household & business are not a new thing, but one I hadn't shared much about in the past. Moving forward, if sharing can encourage one more person to take a stand for humanity, then these efforts are worth it.

I hope you join me,

let's change the world.

Love,

Christina Holland
